St. Anthony Shrine - Basavanapura
The St. Anthony Shrine in Basavanapura stands as a testament to the unwavering faith and dedication of its parishioners. The vision for this sacred place was sparked by Abraham Jacob's heartfelt desire to create a shrine dedicated to St. Anthony, a patron saint revered by many for his miraculous intercessions.
The inception of this shrine took place during the tenure of Father Kiran, who played a pivotal role in bringing this dream to fruition. The construction of the shrine commenced with a modest budget. Initially, the financial plan was quite limited. However, as the construction progressed, the budget was revised to 7 lakhs. This increase was necessary to accommodate the evolving design ideas and to ensure the quality of work met the community's high standards.
The construction process was methodical and executed in stages. Each phase brought new ideas and enhancements, contributing to the shrine's grandeur. After a period of dedicated work, the shrine was completed in 2022. The following year, in 2023, the shrine was officially inaugurated and blessed by Dr. Peter Machado, the 7th Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, on a day of great celebration, coinciding with the feast day.

The inauguration was marked by a special dedication, with Kanikya Mary Jacob's name immortalized on a commemorative plaque, acknowledging her significant contributions. Father Alphan Bascar, the parish priest, expressed profound gratitude and appreciation for the dedication and generosity shown towards the church. The parish committee also remains deeply thankful to the family for their pivotal role in creating this beautiful shrine. Their efforts have bestowed a lasting blessing upon the community.
